about
So… I wrote a song about crying. Because I love it. I think crying is fucking amazing. I have become so friendly with it these last couple of years, that I can now FEEL it in my body when I need to cry. I can literally feel the emotion needing to come out! It’s fascinating. And did you know that tears have NATURAL PAINKILLERS IN THEM for crying out loud (excuse the pun) 😬
That’s why you always feel so much better after you cry. And that isn’t even TOUCHING on the psychological benefit of it. It’s literally getting emotion OUT of you. It’s a release. It’s going Marie Kondo on your psyche and getting rid of all that doesn’t bring you joy. And if you don’t get the emotion out, where do you think it goes?! It doesn’t. It stays in there. And gathers more and more of itself until you one day feel like you need to burst. When did it become so normal and ok to suppress emotion? To stop ourselves from feeling it? It causes us so many unnecessary problems in the long run. So, next time you feel yourself on the verge of tears… embrace that shit. Let it all out and let it all go. Actively encourage your friends to cry if they need to. Never apologise for unintentionally making someone cry! And definitely don’t stop someone from crying! It’s as beautiful and as NORMAL as seeing someone laugh. They’re expressing emotion and that’s all it is. Better out than in. And if you’re the one who happens to accidentally press their stuff, so they have the opportunity to get rid of some extra psyche-baggage? What a privilege. What an honour. Comfort them and hold space for it. And do the same for yourself while you’re at it! Ok, preach over.
